CIRCLE DESCRIPTION
In this circle, I will share my story and listen to yours. I will offer my best resources to help you break into a career as an FX (or Houdini CFX) artist.
We will have regular meetings 3 times a month. At the beginning we will go over your career goal and set up a personal target for the end of the circle. During the 4 month period, we will review and improve your application package – your CV, cover letter, and demoreel.
I will gather my decade of experience into the feedback sessions, which will cover both creatively and technically suggestions – yes, if you need Houdini troubleshooting you can bring to the circle as well.
We will also discuss the job market globally – with a focus of Canada – for FX positions in VFX and the Animation industry. We will have some fun show-n-tell from my past experience, and some guest speakers to provide more perspective as well.
By the end of the circle, I would like everyone to have a clear idea of what a good FX candidate for VFX and animation studios looks like, and a professional application fit to impress recruiters.Â

Hi, I am Zhujun Bamboo Wang, an FX supervisor at DNEG animation. I have over 10 years experience in FX across VFX for feature films, tv series, and feature animation projects. I have specialized in Houdini since 2011. I have worked on titles like Nimona, The Garfield Movie, Scoob!, Ad Astra, Alien: Covenant, Monster Hunters, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Suicide Squad, and more. I enjoy the balance between creativity and proceduralism. I also find great value in caring and giving back, so I want to use my experience and help people who want to break into this field as much as possible.
