CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

This circle focuses on directing animated TV series, with a practical and industry-oriented approach. We will explore the directing process from early development to production, including storytelling for TV formats, defining a clear visual intention, working with storyboards and animatics, and collaborating with artists, studios, producers, and broadcasters.

Particular attention will be given to the real challenges of directing animated TV series, such as:

  • maintaining artistic coherence across multiple episodes and teams
  • working within production constraints (budget, schedule, pipelines)
  • communicating a creative vision clearly to large teams
  • giving constructive feedback while keeping teams motivated
  • navigating creative discussions with producers and broadcasters

Through discussions, shared professional experiences, and concrete examples from production, mentees will learn how to translate a creative vision into strong direction, make artistic decisions under constraints, and grow confidence in their role as directors.

The circle offers a supportive and open space where participants can ask questions, share their work if they wish, and exchange with peers facing similar professional challenges in the animation industry.

Circle Leader

Emilie Guintini

I started in 3D animation on Michel Ocelot’s film “Azur and Asmar”, then directed animation teams internationally. I went on to direct the 52-episode series Robin Hood (TF1/TFOU) and the 26-minute special “Norman n’a pas de super pouvoirs”. I would be delighted to share my passion for storytelling, acting in animation, and leading creative teams worldwide as a mentor.
