WIA is here for you
While many of our mentors come back year after year, there are also several doing this for the first time. To make sure you feel supported the entire time, WIA provides:
- a Mentor coach to help you fine tune the details of your mentoring circle
- a dedicated program manger to handle all operations including marketing and the application process
- optional Mentor Connect sessions over the course of the program which allows you to network with other mentors and share successes and challenges.
Ready to Become a Mentor?
- Fill out an Expression of Interest form
- Please have 2 colleagues fill out this referral form (it will only take about 3 minutes).
Once WIA has 2 referrals, we will contact you to discuss participating in our next round of circles. We run 2 sessions a year: April to July and October to July.
Prospective Mentor Freqently Asked Questions:
Q: When do the circles take place?
A: There are 2 rounds of mentorship a year: Round 1 – April to July and Round 2 – October to January.
Q: What does the commitment really look like for mentors?
A: We require a minimum of 16 hours of meeting time over the course of the 4 month program. You can count on some prep time before circles (this will vary based on the type of circle you choose to lead). We run several optional meetings through the round which we highly encourage you to attend, and of course you can factor in a few hours of meeting time with the mentor coaches in the months leading up to the circles while we help you prepare for and plan your circle.
Q: Do I have to make rejections to applicants?
A: NO! WIA handles all of the operations of the program, so all you have to do is select your mentees from your pool of applicants and WIA will notify everyone if they were accepted or not.
Q: Is this a volunteer position?
A: Yes! All of WIA’s mentors are volunteers, there is no pay associated with this role.
