Graphic Design Volunteer

Supervisor: Communications Manager

Type: Volunteer

Location: 100% remote

Minimum Commitment: ~5 hours per week; must commit to at least 6 months of service; can be done outside of normal business hours


About the Role

We’re looking for a volunteer to add to our small but dedicated team to assist in graphic design that inspires and excites WIA community members, donors, and other stakeholders. A successful WIA volunteer is self-motivated, organized, inclusive, flexible, and responsible. They’ll thrive with a sense of humor, a passion for the mission, and good judgment. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their graphic design portfolio while contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Design digital and print materials, including but not limited to social media graphics and event fliers
  • Ensure all materials adhere to established brand guidelines for a consistent look and feel
  • Deliver high-quality work on time with minimal supervision
  • Incorporate feedback and make timely revisions, including accommodating occasional last-minute requests
  • Other design-related tasks as needed

Skills and experience

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva
  • Strong eye for layout, color, and typography
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong critical thinking and good judgment 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Top candidates for the role will
    • have a background, education, or demonstrated interest in Animation, Visual Effects, or Gaming
    • be able to effectively connect their work with WIA’s mission
