CIRCLE DESCRIPTION

The focus of this circle is story-telling. We will explore how storytelling in any media can be a powerful tool for nonprofits, grassroots campaigns, and humanitarian causes. We’ll look at how international organizations and community-based groups alike have used media—from short social videos to full-length documentaries—to raise awareness, advocate for justice, and mobilize support. Alongside inspiring case studies, we’ll also share practical tips on how to structure stories that connect emotionally and drive action.

I am inviting :

  1. Filmmakers, content creators and visual storytellers who are looking to collaborate with nonprofits and/or use their craft for social impact
  2. nonprofit staff, humanitarian workers and grassroots organizers who want to learn how to use media to amplify their work.

Whether you’re a creator or in the field, this space is for anyone passionate about using media and animation to support communities and tell stories that matter.

Circle Leader

Muna Fadhil

I’m Muna, an Arab-English speaking American Iraqi storyteller working at the intersection of filmmaking, television, and international development. With a background in journalism and documentary filmmaking, I use media to amplify the voices of communities—especially children—affected by war.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked across the MENA region with the UN and international nonprofits, developing programs, shaping communication strategies, creating content, and supporting efforts that use media as a tool for healing, education, and social change. At the heart of everything I do is a belief in the power of storytelling to foster connection, understanding, and lasting change—helping communities recover from trauma and hardship.
