#WeAreWIA: A Strong Voice for Gender Equity in Animation, VFX &Gaming

We are WIA. We’ve always fostered talent, built community and advocated for gender equity in animation. Now we’re excited to share the next chapter in our journey: a new look that reflects an inclusive evolution of our mission, one that better represents who we serve and why we exist. WIA is a global nonprofit and community advocating for equal representation of all gender identities in animation, VFX and gaming.

What’s New and What’s Not

Our fresh look brings clarity and focus to a mission that’s never wavered: to create a more equitable, inclusive and creatively vibrant animation industry.

What hasn’t changed is our dedication to supporting talent in every corner of the industry— from artists and engineers to producers and executives. What has evolved is how we talk about that work. We’re proudly naming the full range of professionals we serve: women, nonbinary and other people of underrepresented gender identities.

We are also reinforcing something we’ve long believed, that gender equity is everyone’s business. Men have always been part of this community as mentors, allies and partners, and we welcome all who are committed to building an industry where everyone can thrive to be part of WIA.

Why Now?

We’ve grown alongside an industry that is rapidly globalizing but still struggles to provide meaningful opportunity for everyone. Our updated identity signals our commitment to change that.

The future of animation, VFX and gaming depends on creative diversity. Audiences are younger, more global and more demanding of fresh stories and perspectives. Hiring the same kinds of people in the same kinds of roles holds us all back. We believe equity is not only right. It’s smart business.

With this new look, we’re doubling down on our role as a catalyst for that change. This effort reflects our focus: not just opening doors, but ensuring all people, regardless of gender identity, have what they need to walk through them and thrive.
